On the slopes of Mt. Biokovo, 150 m above sea level, 2 km east of Baška Voda there is a small traditional Dalmatian village of Bast. The name of Bast draws its root from Antiquity (Biston). It first appeared in writing in 1434. The village has examples of excellently preserved Dalmatian architecture – buildings with traditional stone slabs, stone chimneys and “solari”. A tunnel opened in July 2013, connecting the village of Bast directly to A1 highway. Bast offers all those who like the peace and tranquility of old mountain villages a variety of old stone houses for renovation, land that is ideal for building settlements with traditional stone houses and swimming pools, amazing panoramic view of the sea, islands and Baška Voda.
